Oh baby! :)  This week we've started going to the doctor more often.  We got another ultrasound to check fluid levels and to make sure Everett's not in distress.  Everything looked good.  I was thinking he would probably be in the double digits, but she said he weighed around 9lb 1oz and 90 percentile.  His heart rate was 132.  My doctor said she didn't think he felt that big to her so that's good :)  She said I was at 2 cm now and that I was ready.  She asked if I wanted to induce the next day but I said I still wanted to wait.  She swept my membranes and said she wanted to see me again on Tuesday, but that she bets I have the baby by then.  Yay!  We were so happy to hear that.  I had a few strong contractions that night but they went away.

We went to dinner and a movie on Friday (27). I started having contractions. We got a few hours of sleep before the power went out and then I was pretty sure I was in LABOR! We got our stuff together and headed to the hospital.

We had Everett in our arms by Saturday the 28th :)

Full birth story soon...

This week...I honestly didn't think I'd make it to this week.  I'm not sure why since first babies tend to be late.  I think because he was usually measuring big and people kept telling me that I was going to go into labor early (thanks alot! haha).  I just want him to come at his own time without any interventions.  I've been afraid of induction since I found out I have gestational diabetes.  We went to the doctor and (of course) she wanted to schedule an indcution next week.  We told her that we would like to wait until closer to 41 weeks and she said she would do what we wanted.  The date is set for October 3rd, but she wants to see me next week and do an ultrasound.  Then she said she would see if we needed to induce earlier.  I'm still hoping he comes before then :)

This week we went to our weekly visit and everything is still looking good.  My blood pressure is great, she hasn't really told us what the fundal height is anymore and hearbeat is good.  She checked my cervix and I am 1cm dilated.  That doesn't really mean much, but I'm glad I've made some progress.  We had an ultrasound too.  Everything was fine.  He weighs around 8lbs 15oz (she said it's usually over by 1/2 a lb) and is in the 90 percentile now.  He was puckering his lips and practicing breathing.  We're so excited to meet him and everyone around us seems to be getting more anxious, haha!!!  We've been going on walks to try to get things going :)

This week the anticipation grows and grows :)  I've been having some terrible hip + groin pain.  I officially have the waddle even though I really try to hide it.  It's been hard and painful to walk lately.  We keep telling Everett to come out and play, haha.  We went to the fair.  I guess you could say Everett rode the ferris wheel for the first time.  We also had our weekly doctor visit.  My strep b test came back negative- yay!  She said the fundal height was on track and he wasn't measuring too big.  He still hasn't dropped but I'm starting to efface.  She said anything is normal at this point and it doesn't mean I'm close or far from delivering.  Just a waiting game at this point :)  I'm so excited!!!

This week we went to the doctor and started our weekly visits :)  So exciting!  I haven't gained any more weight and my blood pressure is still good.  We got a shock when we asked what the fundal height was though...39!!!  She said he could have just been positioned funny, but she told us that we would be getting an ultrasound to see how things were looking.  I had the strep b test and it was not at all as bad as I was thinking.  She also checked my cervix and I was not effaced.  Everett is head down and in position, but still up high in my ribs.  We also went over the birth plan.  The ultrasound tech said that he had a full head of hair, haha.  He was covering his face with his hands so we didn't set to see his face :(  We didn't get any pictures either.  She said we got an 8/8 and that everything looked perfect.  She said that he weighs 7 lbs 5 oz and is in the 75 percentile.  Big baby!

This week we had our last childbirth class.  It was on infant safety and CPR.  We got a certificate saying that we had "graduated" haha :)  Zac made me an appointment to get my first prenatal massage.  It was so relaxing.  She even massaged my belly.  Everett gave her a huge kick.  It was funny :)  I guess he had his first official massage too.  My feet are starting to ache if I'm on them too much and it's getting even harder to move around but I'm making it!

This past week we took maternity pictures in La Grange, TN.  I also had another doctor appointment.  Everett's heart rate was 135 and the fundal height was 35.  She said everything looks good and it's ok if I lose weight or stay the same because she only looks at overall weight gain not week by week.  For my homework I don't have to test my blood sugar in the mornings except once a week (yay! one less stick) and she wants me to bring my birth plan to the next appointment.  We also had a natural child birth class.  I had to put clips on my ears and hold ice cubes in my hands to mimic the levels of pain and stages of birth.  We practiced different positions, massage and breathing techniques.

This week I finally had my gestational diabetes class :)  I learned that I was probably restricting myself too much.  I need to add more carbs than I was so I stop losing weight.  They gave me a meal plan to stick with and it's pretty easy.  You just mix a certain amount of carbs with a meat, fat and non-starchy vegetables.  My levels have still been pretty good, but the past few days I've had a few high ones.  It gets frustrating when you eat well but still have a high reading :(

We had our fifth childbirth class and it was all about baby basics.  Zac gave the baby doll a bath, changed it's diaper and learned how to swaddle.  He was the master swaddler in class, haha.  Everyone was complementing him on how perfect his was :)

This week I had another doctor's appointment.  My fundal height hasn't changed in two weeks, but I'm still measuring big (by a week) at 33.  I haven't gained much weight the past few weeks either (if at all).  She said it was normal to have fluctuations.  I can't believe it's already August.  I made all of my final ob appointments (so crazy!!!).  Time has been flying by.  I got a prescription for the glucometer so let the finger pricking begin :P  I'm really curious to see what my blood sugar levels are.  I hope normal...

...so far my levels have been normal :)  Yay!  This weekend we installed the car seat and put together the pack n play.  I also packed Everett's hospital bag and mine is pretty much ready to go.  It's getting so exciting!!! I'm so ready to meet our baby boy.

This week was a tough week.  I found out I have gestational diabetes.  I'm not sure why I'm letting it bum me out so bad and I know things could be a lot worse.  It just gets me stressed out reading words like macrosomia (baby being too large to enter the birth canal or shoulders getting stuck), large episiotomy and cesarean section when I want to go all natural.  At first they told me that I could go to a class to learn about what to do a day after I found out and then called back to say they didn't have an opening until two weeks!  Two weeks seems crazy when I'm already 31 weeks along.  I've been trying to research it on my own which is tough because it's all contradicting information.  For the most part I am eating as I normally would because I like to eat healthy anyway.  I've been trying to eat smaller meals with snacks in between.  I'm continuing with yoga and walking more.  The hardest part has been cutting out refined sugar.  I have the biggest sweet tooth and LOVE sweets, haha.

We got to tour the labor and delivery room, postpartum room and nursery during our childbirth class this week so that was fun :)  The rooms were nicer than I imagined.

This weekend is my family baby shower so I'm really excited about that.

This week I went to the doctor.  I got to hear Everett's heartbeat again :)  It was 145.  My fundal height was 33.  I also got tested for gestational diabetes.  I did the 1 hour test first and found out the next day that I failed :(  I scheduled to have the 3 hour test the next morning.  They scared me at first because they told me that they were going to draw my blood first since my last results were so high and they normally don't have to do that.  I had to wait an hour (freaking out) to find out that my results were low enought to continue with the 3 hour test.  It was pretty tough getting down the glucose drink the second time around.  The orange was way better than the fruit punch.  I have to wait until Monday to find out if I passed or not.  I hope I do, but I have a feeling I probably won't.  I'm trying to think positive though.

Baby button has been kicking and moving around like crazy.  He likes to keep his butt/feet high up under my right ribs.  We watching birth videos in our childbirth class this week and they taught us massage techniques.  Our homework was for Zac to give me 3 massages and for me give him 1.  I'm not complaining about that, haha.  I've started slowly packing my hospital bag as I think of things that I want to go in it.
