I had so much fun on my first sketchcrawl.  It was a beautiful day although the wind made it very chilly.  A group of us ate lunch at the famous Arcade and warmed up.  I've been wanting to sketch the Arcade and Earnestine & Hazels.  I also couldn't help taking lots of pictures :)  Sometimes I take for granted how cool our city is, but today I was proud to be a Memphian.

Opening Night

I am in a group exhibition with other Memphis Urban Sketchers at ANF Architects.  The opening was last Friday and the show runs through Feb. 1st.  We had a great turn out and it was such a fun night.  It's always neat to see everyone's sketches next to each other and see all of the different styles.  We had a celebratory dinner afterwards with family.

This month we sketched at Victorian Village.  I sketched the Mollie Fontaine Taylor house and the Mallory-Neely house.  It was a chilly morning and a peaceful place to sketch (with the exception of the leaf blower, haha) "haunted houses" with Halloween coming up.  I love that area of Memphis.  I always think about how fun it would be to buy a huge old house to live in with friends or family.

Sketches from this weekend

Me sketching copy

I rode my new bike to the park to do some sketching on Saturday.  The basket detaches and made it super easy to gather all of my supplies.  It was a perfect, cool day.  I found a spot under the gazebo, while I watched the rain.  So relaxing!

Rode my bike to the park to do some sketching :)

The next morning Zac + I went to Panera for breakfast and I did a few sketches there too.

Memphis Urban Sketchers @ Idlewild Presbyterian Church

This month we sketched inside Idlewild Presbyterian Church since it was so hot outside.  I've never been inside before and it was beautiful.  I love older churches.  It was probably one of the most quiet places I've ever sketched until a lady started practicing on the organ.  I read later that it was built by the Bedient Pipe Organ Company, and was designed after the precepts of 18th and early 19th century organs in France.

I hadn't been back since I got married there last year :)  It was nice to be back + brought back so many sweet memories!  I want to go back + have a picnic on our one year anniversary.  Awe.
