I always enjoyed going to the Peabody every year as a little girl (and big girl!). We started the tradition with Everett this year. He won't remember, but I think it will be sweet to have a picture every year in front of their tree. We sat in the lobby and got drinks. Then we walked around, looked at the tree and saw the gingerbread house display. We also found out some great news about the house we want to buy. It looks like we got it!!! We close in 10 days...so exciting!!! It was such a great night. We also looked at Christmas lights on the way to dinner.

Everett's First Tree
We went to a local tree farm to pick out a tree, but ended up getting one from the nursery we go to every year. The tree farm was a fun experience and the perfect back drop for Christmas card pictures. The nursery serves yummy wassail and is owned by the sweetest couple. The next night we decorated the tree. I love all of our old ornaments from our childhood and it's so exciting to be adding new ones for Everett.
In our box of ornaments I save all of our Christmas cards. We always order from Tiny Prints. Where do you get your holiday cards? I think we are going to order this design this year :) I'm so excited to be sending out cards as a family of three this year.

Advent Activity: Play a Game of Chess
I never knew how to play chess until Zac taught me, but now I love it. It's more of a love/hate relationship though because I'm not that great at it. I'm not good at strategizing; I'm too worried about staying alive to plot some master plan to kill the opponent. I'm getting better and I was winning until Zac checkmated me. Dang! I declare a rematch soon :)

Advent Activity: Date Night
Friday night we had dinner at Amerigo's. It's one of my favorite winter date night spots. The atmosphere is so cozy with their wood burning stove. We had the best oven roasted artichoke cheese dip and I love their mussels so much. Yum! We also got a blondie for dessert :)

Advent Activity // Get A Christmas Tree + Drink Wassail
Thursday night Zac + I got our Christmas Tree :) I was excited all day! We went to Country Gardens again. They are so nice + they serve wassail (a Christmas drink with mulling spices, orange juice, red hots, apple cider, etc.). We knew we wanted a smaller tree, but the 5-6' were too small + the 8' were too big. We found the perfect 7 1/2' skinny (or it seemed skinny at the time, haha) Fraser Fir.
Then we got dinner at our neighborhood Mexican place (Zac is obsessed with Mexican food!). They have a guy that sings every Thursday night + he's pretty good. We had him play "Time of the Season" by the Zombies (our current favorite song since the Yellow Ostrich concert).
Our tree barely fit...We had to cut off a little bit of the top. It appeared much fuller once we brought it inside too, haha.
It was a fun night :) Do you usually get a real tree or artificial? I'm all about the real trees (even though I'm sure I'm allergic!). We always get Fraser Firs too.
